Cover of the local newspaper TV magazine. It looks like it's promoting an entertainment special, but I simply don't remember. I'm sure that I would have watched it. And I don't remember any documentation in any magazine or book about it either. Anyone out there remember?

Hi Hart,
ReplyDeleteIt's Donald (we met--again--at the Barbra auction in Beverly Hills with Robin? Remember I'm the one who bought Barbra's pillows and gave you the Julien's bag?)
Anyways, I Googled this and got lucky.
It was an entertainment review show, shown during the first week of Jan in 1978 produced by Variety. It says here it was broken into 5 sections, with 5 different hosts. I read the article, but it says nothing of Barbra. The picture here shows some of the major events of 1977 (like the deaths of Elvis, Bing and Groucho).
I'm sure they must have said something about "A Star Is Born" in the movie section. Here's the article from a newspaper in Oregon. You'll have to copy/paste the URL.

LOVE the photos---

Hello Donald:
ReplyDeleteThat newspaper aritcle from Oregon was a great find. I don't remember the special, but I must have watched it. I agree with your guess- they must have shown a clip from A Star is Born (although technically it came out in '76, but who's complaining?).
Glad you like the photos.
