Kid Natural

Ryan said he liked this photo of him and Barbra (I do too.) When I asked Ryan if he would also add Kid Natural to his autograph he asked "how do you spell natural"?

Barbra poster

It was hard to photograph this poster. It's printed on silver mylar and reflects light easily. It's also been rolled up for the last 30 some-odd years. I got it mail order from the back of one of those celebrity magazines.

One of the bad reviews.

Greetings from Hollywood

A vintage postcard from Hollywood- notice What's Up, Doc? is at the Chinese and Mame is at the Dome. It's a reprint. This postcard is available at any of the tacky tourists traps along Hollywood Boulevard today.

Today in history, January 16, 1977 (which was also a Sunday): Funny Girl and Funny Lady played a double feature at the Olmos theater in San Antonio.

RCA VideoDiscs

During the early years of home video laserdiscs were introduced to the market. While they had better sound and picture, VCRs dominated the market because they could record programs too. Laserdiscs bit the dust (along with VCRs) after DVDs came to market. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the RCA discs had to be played on one of their players.

The Warner Brothers Exhibit Part 2

Here's another photo from the Warner Brothers Exhibit from the Academy Awards exhibit. I think I've seen this photo before but after 35 years of being a Barbra fan, most older photos have a sense of deja vu with me. I might not have seen this exact shot, but I think I've seen one similiar.

The Warner Brothers Exhibit

Here's one of the photos that was on exhibit last fall at the Academy's Grand lobby. They had an exhibition of treasures from the Warner Brothers photo lab. That's Paul Newman, Sydney Poiter and Steve McQueen along with Barbra outside the Firsts Artist office on the Warner Brother lot.

Knockout Film

Barbra made the cover of the Sunday newspaper entertainment section with a feature on new boxing movies. Stallone released Rocky II during the summer of '79 also.

A mini-bio sometime after the Oscars. I don't remember which publication.

Left in the Dark

I never did see Emotion in the movie theaters. It must have had a limited release (N.Y., L.A.- as usual). I did see it on MTV back when they showed music videos on that channel. I can remember a few times at the top of the hour when the V.J. would annouce the line up for the next hour and mention Barbra's name! When VH1 started up as a new cable channel, they would play this video all the time, along with Left in the Dark. Now the few times Barbra does a music video they are all "left in the dark".

Hello, Dolly! at the Olmos

This is a clipping from the Olmos theater movie calendar in San Antonio from the '70s. It's either from '77 or '78. It was my first screening of the movie. I remember the exit music from Hello, Dolly! played for about 30 seconds then just stopped suddenly. The theater has long since closed down, but this clipping survives!
