We MUST!

Another classic gossip article from the '70s. (I think this was from one of Rona Barrett's publications).

Barbra's box office

I photographed the top photo of the free-standing ticket booth on one of my studio tours of Warner Brother's back lot. I, of course, instantly recognized it from For Pete's Sake (I'm sure you do, too). Nobody else on the tour seemed to appreciate it's Streisand pedigree. Go figure, everyone was into those Harry Potter movies. It's still in use today as seen in this clip from Big Bang Theory.

What's Up, Doc? on campus

I got to see What's Up, Doc? at Texas A&M while there. If you remember, Judy Maxwell studied veternarian medicine at Texas A&M. Of course, the audience whooped it up when she mentions it in the movie.

The Way We Were filming locations

Getting into this area of Union Station has been elusive to me so far. Every time I go to L.A. I make a special trip here to see if it's open. So far no luck. The best I can do is photograph it through a window. Eventually, I will get inside and get better shots.

The Way We Were filming locations

Inside Union Station this is the area next to the lobby. The train track letters aren't the same. Tracks I and J aren't in this location anymore. I'm pretty sure train tracks E and F are the location now.

The Way We Were filming locations

Union Station hasn't changed much since filming.

Nancy Giles on CBS Sunday Morning

Nancy Giles did a feature about saving money on the CBS Sunday Morning show earlier this year. She talked about how long it took to save up $10 in her passbook savings account- at which time she went to a record store and bought albums with it. I'm assuming these are the albums she bought with her life savings.

If memory serves me correctly, this is from the Austin-American Statesman.

Don't believe what you read

Gossip article from when Barbra was filming The Prince of Tides.

I am curious . . . .Barbra

The above image is a screen capture from a documentary feature about the controversial film I Am Curious . . . .Yellow (the film is extremely mild by today's standards, and boring). The camera pans down to the bottom on the list to show where the film is listed. However, in the panning process you can see a cropped view of some of the top movies of the period. If you examine closely and fill in the blanks, you can see Hello, Dolly! at number 6 after 12 weeks on the chart and Funny Girl at number 13 after 77 weeks on the chart.

Rona Barrett's Hollywood

Barbra was one of Rona's favorties back in the '70s. Wonder if it's too late to order.

A Star is Born soundtrack

Back in January 2010 I posted an ad similar to this one. This one, however, was printed after the Academy Awards.

More A Star is Born in San Antonio

One more clipping about A Star is Born screenings in San Antonio. These theaters were from later in the release of the film. The Aztec was a movie palace downtown. It's been remodeled for performances after sitting empty for years. The San Pedro drive in is now a grocery store and shopping center. The Woodlawn is a local performing arts theater now. The U.A. Movies 4 was on the South side and has been closed for a while.

I posted a few of these newspaper clippings back in July 2010. Here's another.

Barbra was the question on final Jeopardy recently. Sadly only one contestant got it right and he still lost.

Modern People

People who read "Modern People" are not the luckiest people in the world. This is one of those short-lived tabloids I picked up at the grocery store way back when. I made the mistake of cutting the article and cover out and throwing the rest away. Would love to read the other headline stories now.
