Barbra at the BookExpo Part 1

Just got back from the BookExpo convention. And after spending umptenth hours standing, sitting and waiting in line for two days, this is what I ended up with: Seventh row right center on the aisle- just behind the V.I.P. section. I had to out run the seven people who were in front of me in the line outside to get here first (sorry, well . . . not really). I know, I'm terrible!

I'm still trying to collect my thoughts (and read my handwriting). I know plenty of others are writing and remarking about the night too. I'll be the first to admit I'm not the greatest writer, but hopefully I'll bring you some compelling details and stories that you won't find anywhere else.

More posts (and photos) about the event later.

Candid Barbra

I wasn't there, but I got these candids from another Barbra collector.

Barbra's gamble

The big question is why is Sid Ceasar the newest teen idol. Wish I had the answer. I threw that article away.

French Dressing

This is NOT Barbra Streisand? I'll say. The newspaper ad is from the Austin-American Statesman. Didn't get a chance to see it. Austin was two counties over and I wasn't allowed to drive that far.
The photo should have been shot from her left side too.

Guilty

Wow- Guilty for sale at 1979 prices! Still can't figure out why Neil Diamond is 50 cents more expensive than Barbra. Shouldn't it be the other way around?

Ryan O'Neal

Yes, these photos are blurry. Sorry. I always have this problem when I zoom in. You'd think I would know by now. Should have taken more for coverage. But they all turned out this way.
Anyway, Ryan O' Neal was at the Hollywood Collector's Show in Burbank on April 24 (why does that date ring a bell?). For a "fee" he would sign his autograph. And for a "fee", you could have your picture taken with him. I got a couple of autographs (I'll post them later). I asked him if he remembered the scene with him under the table. He did and talked briefly about the scene- the table was propped up. I asked him if I could get a photo of him under the table to recreate the scene. He quickly said "No!". He then added that his knees couldn't take it. (And no, I don't know the meaning of propriety).
