All Night Long filming locations Part 12

The gas station is still there.

All Night Long filming locations Part 11

Just my luck. I would visit South Pasadena when they are doing road construction. A few changes since 1981. Where did those mountains in the background come from? Was smog blocking the view back then?

All Night Long filming locations Part 10

Not much left to see, but I've got to post it anyway!

All Night Long filming locations Part 9

I walked inside Bristol Farms to see if anything remained from the Ultra-Save days. Sadly it appears the inside was gutted. There's no more upstairs back office overlooking the floor.

All Night Long filming locations Part 8

You recogonize the top photograph from the movie. The middle photograph is what the location looks like today. You might think that the Kentucky Fried Chicken store was torn down, but it's just blocked from view. They added a strip shopping center in the parking lot between the Ultra-Save store and the KFC store. The Kentucky Fried Chicken building is still there (see bottom photo) although it's no longer a KFC.

Kevin Dobson on All Night Long

I had a chance to talk to Kevin Dobson about filming All Night Long and he shared a good story with me. According to him, this location shot pictured above was the first scene Barbra filmed in the movie. That morning Barbra was driven to the set in a new white Rolls-Royce Corniche by the studio. Kevin and Gene Hackman were already on the set and Kevin told Gene that the studio was paying for the Rolls. (How Kevin knew this I don't know, I'm just telling you what he told me. I'm also assuming the studio drove them to the location, but in something more modest). Gene's response was "Oh Really?" (with a bit of attitude thrown in). Gene Hackman's agent as Sue Menger, who was Barbra's agent at the time. Anyway, the next day, Gene was driven to the set. . . .in a white Rolls-Royce Corniche too.
