The New Amsterdam theater used in Funny Girl was on the backlot of Columbia studios (also known as the Columbia ranch). The backlot is now known as the Warner Brother ranch. Sadly the Vista theater (as it was called) and this whole part of the backlot is now gone.The theater pops up in a number of movies and television shows. The screen capture above is from Bikini Beach. (Yes, I actually watched that movie).
My favorite movie of all time is Funny Girl. Wish I could have visited the ranch/backlot. Glad to learn that the Columbia ranch and Columbia backlot are one in the same. I thought they were separate locations. Thanks
