The first time I saw All Night Long was in Bryan, Texas at the Manor East 3 theater. I went with Jaime, a college friend and fellow Barbra fan. For some reason I can't remember, we didn't see it the opening weekend, but either the first Monday or Tuesday after it's release. Needless to say, the theater wasn't crowded.
At the time it was hard to relate to Gene Hackman's character since I was in my early '20s. Now, well, that's another story (I'm a little closer to the character). An odd movie to say the least. It just didn't feel like a Barbra movie.
But I didn't dispair. Even before this movie was released, we were hearing rumors about a new movie she wanted to make.
